Homeschooling
Our homeschooling journey began about two years ago. I had always admired moms who homeschooled their children, but I never imagined that I would be able to do it. I just didn’t think I had the strength or the perseverance.
Evidently, God had other plans! By the time our oldest was ready for preschool, Phil and I had no doubt that home education was the direction we were supposed to go.
So here I am, not only homeschooling, but even blogging about it! I’m certainly no expert. Every day brings new challenges and perspectives, and I’m constantly learning and growing through the experience. I hope that what I share here brings you encouragement and maybe even some help in your homeschooling journey!
I’m often asked what method of schooling we use. If I had to put a label on it at this stage, I’d say we are Christian-Traditional-Literature Based. I’m also intrigued by Charlotte Mason’s approach, lapbooking, and workboxes, and hope to incorporate these to some extent as we go along. I guess you could say we are becoming more eclectic by the day. This year has been one of exploring learning styles, letting go of my expectations, and adapting to find the best routine and style for us. We have come a long way, and we still have a long way to go!
If you’re new to homeschooling or trying to decide whether to homeschool or not, please feel free to contact me! I’d love to help and encourage you any way that I can.
