Welcome to Closing Time! I’m so glad you’re here.
I’ll never forget the first time I participated in the Ultimate Blog Party two years ago. I had just started blogging…I think I had only done 2 or 3 posts. A blog party sounded completely unfamiliar and overwhelming. I jumped in anyway, and it was an amazing start to my blogging journey!
In case you’ve never been here before, I’ll start with a little introduction… My name is Erin, and I’m a work-at-home, homeschooling mom of two little girls (ages 7 and 5). My husband Phil and I have been married for almost 11 years. Our story is a bit unusual…we were best friends for two years, then we got engaged and went on our first date after that!
One of my childhood dreams was to be a writer, but it got lost somewhere in between wanting to be a vet and an architect. I started blogging without knowing where it would lead. I love having a place to share my heart and a few random moments from the everyday.
The name of my blog, Closing Time, came from a lullaby that my husband, Phil, wrote. In the evenings, when it’s closing time for little eyes, the atmosphere in our home changes. Once the kids are tucked cozily into their beds, the lights are dimmed, and the toys are put away (most of the time). It is the one time of day that I can sit down for a moment and really relax. That is what this blog is, an opportunity to just sit down and have a moment to write and share my heart with you!
Many of my posts share reflective moments in my life as a mom, such as the time my girls helped change my perspective about Tiny Nachos, my thoughts on how we view God in the midst of tragedy in Quakings…and Thoughts on Goodness, and the time I realized that The Goodbye I thought was so difficult wasn’t such a big deal after all.
Last fall, I did something I really never thought I would do…I started a second blog. I realized my homeschooling posts needed a home of their own, and so Homeschool Java was born. I share our journey in learning and also review products for the TOS Homeschool Crew. If you’re a homeschooler (or even if you’re not), I hope you stop by and visit me there too.
In addition to homeschooling my girls, my days are also filled with designing blogs. It brings me great joy to provide other bloggers with designs that fit their personality and purpose. I am thankful to be able to run a business that I love right from home. I just unveiled a brand new look on my design site, Insight Blog Design, and…
I’m giving away a custom blog design!!!
I’m truly glad you stopped by today, and I hope you’ll leave a comment and let me know you were here. I’ll be sure to pay you a visit too!
If you want to read more from me here at Closing Time, you can subscribe in a reader, subscribe by email, or follow via Google Friend Connect in the sidebar. I’m also on Twitter and Facebook!
Thanks again to 5 Minutes for Mom for hosting this great party! If you haven’t already, stop by the Ultimate Blog Party post and join in the fun!
